New British Customs Software Helps Businesses Maintain Smooth Cross-Border Trade
London, Tuesday, 25 August 2026.
Approved by tax authorities, a new cloud-based software uses artificial intelligence to automate complex transit declarations, helping British and European businesses prevent border delays and streamline trade.
HMRC-Approved Platform Launches
Customs Declarations UK (CDUK), operated by AJ Software Solutions Ltd, has officially launched its cloud-based New Computerised Transit System (NCTS6) platform, now listed on the official HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) register of NCTS software developers [1]. The launch on 25 August 2026 enables customs agents, freight forwarders, and logistics operators to submit T1 and T2 transit declarations, helping businesses navigate updated post-Brexit trade compliance frameworks [1]. This cloud-based solution is designed to maintain fluid cross-border supply chains between the UK, Europe, and global trading partners by aligning with current regulatory standards [1].
Technical Capabilities and Transit Rules
The NCTS6 platform enables users to file T1, T2, and T2F transit declarations, generate Transit Accompanying Documents (TAD), and manage arrival or unloading notifications [1]. It includes AI-assisted Customs Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) to extract data from invoices, packing lists, and CMRs, alongside features like real-time validation of commodity codes and EORI numbers [1]. The system supports comprehensive guarantees (GRN), guarantee waivers, and individual guarantees to ensure goods move under Union and Common Transit protocols without immediate duty payment [1].
Strategic Trade Implications
Jawahir Lal Lund, Director of Customs Declarations UK, stated that transit is the connective tissue of GB–EU trade and the move to NCTS Phase 6 was the most significant change to the regime in years [1]. The company aims to make CDUK a one-stop customs platform for customs agents, freight forwarders, hauliers, and traders, allowing them to handle transit, CDS import and export declarations, safety and security filings, and GVMS/ELO movements through one account [1]. This consolidation seeks to prevent businesses from juggling multiple systems while managing complex cross-border logistics [1].
