Boeing Projects Middle East Airline Fleet to More Than Double by 2044
Dubai, Tuesday, 18 November 2025.
Boeing’s 2025 Commercial Market Outlook predicts Middle East airlines will see their fleets more than double by 2044, driven by tourism, trade, and an expanding middle class.
Middle East’s Expanding Role in Global Aviation
Boeing [NYSE: BA] has projected a significant expansion for Middle Eastern airlines, forecasting that the region’s fleet will more than double by 2044. This growth is attributed to increasing tourism, trade, and a burgeoning middle class, which are expected to drive demand for both passenger and freighter aircraft. According to Boeing’s 2025 Commercial Market Outlook (CMO), the Middle East’s share of global passenger traffic is anticipated to exceed 10% by 2044, enhancing connectivity between Europe, Africa, and Asia [1][2].
Demand for New Aircraft and Services
The region’s airlines are expected to require approximately 1,400 new widebody passenger jets and 185 freighters by 2044, with freighter capacity projected to nearly triple. The low-cost carrier sector is also set to expand, potentially capturing nearly 25% of the Middle East’s seat capacity by 2044 [1][2]. Furthermore, the growth in aviation services is expected to generate a demand for $455 billion in commercial aviation services and necessitate around 234,000 new aviation personnel [1][2].
Strategic Investments and Infrastructure Development
Strategic investments in modern hubs will play a crucial role in facilitating this growth. The Middle East’s geographical advantage, being within an 8-hour flight from 80% of the world’s population, positions it as a key connector in global air travel. These hubs are expected to support the anticipated increase in passenger and cargo traffic, further integrating the region into the global economy [1][2].
Boeing’s Strategic Partnerships and Orders
Recent developments include Boeing’s successful securing of significant aircraft orders from Middle Eastern airlines. Notably, Emirates has committed to purchasing an additional 65 Boeing 777-9 airplanes, bringing its total 777X orders to 270 jets. This move supports Emirates’ expansion plans amid growing travel demand, highlighting Boeing’s strategic partnerships with key regional carriers [3][4].
